Aecon is seeking a highly skilled EHS Advisor to join our team on the SMR-X Project, a groundbreaking initiative to construct Canada's first Small Modular Reactor. As part of an alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project-specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures, including inspections, audits, observation, and coaching.
- Train project staff in the requirements of conventional safety procedures and track and report safety-related statistics.
- Manage Return to Work and Modified duties cases at the field level and support Human Performance program activities.
- Assist in the development of JSA, High Hazard, Critical Lifting, and Handling forms and audit same in the field.
- A designation such as CHSO or CRSP.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear construction industry.
- Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
- A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sub-contractors' safety performance and emergency planning and hot work procedures.
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders, if required.
- Comfortable with different work locations and job sites.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and be proactive.
- Champion of inclusion and diversity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable to flexible work schedules when required to meet deadlines.
