Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer, Production Test Module. As Project Engineer for Production Test Module, you will be responsible for managing the project and schedule for the PTM, including the design, procurement, production outputs, planning, and operations for that scope of work. Your main focus will be on testing the Shipyard people, process, and tools with the intent to prove the capability to build the Canadian Surface Combatant, and to identify Lessons Learned through the testing that will allow for continuous improvement.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
- Education Required:
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, or working towards.
- Recognized Project Management designation considered an asset.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience leading projects in defence/design/construction industries.
- Experience in naval design or build sectors, or major international defence contracts considered an asset.
- Strong background in stakeholder management and teamwork skills; pro-active and results focused.
- High level of competence with core Project Management processes: scheduling, budgeting and cost forecasting, performance tracking, risk management.
- Self-starting and motivated to work autonomously.
- Familiar with MS Office, excel/word/powerpoint.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Good management of priorities in complex environments.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Change Management:
- Support the PTM project in the development of customer proposals.
- Raise change requests/proposals where needed for the assigned scope of work and seek approval from the CAM.
- Review change requests raised elsewhere where there is an impact to the assigned scope.
- Initiation:
- Support the CAM by working with the business functions to develop plans for delivery of the scope of work.
- Execution:
- Ensure inputs are being provided as required to performance reporting tools, including schedule and financial forecasting.
- Review performance reports (internal and subcontracted), including progress on previous corrective actions.
- Generate new corrective actions and update risks/opportunities as necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of Lessons Learned through the PTM project, coordinating with subject matter experts and function leads to drive continuous improvement within the business.
