Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is passionate about working on projects varying in scope and size related to water / wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, educational, commercial and institutional buildings, including planning and design of new facilities, as well as optimization and rehabilitation of existing systems.

Duties:
  • Provide project engineering and technical expertise on design of industrial power distribution systems (44kV to 120V), including load analysis, Hydro supply sizing, substation design, underground duct banks.
  • Design and select standby power supply systems, including Diesel and Gas generators.
  • Design of Switchgear, Switchboard, Motor Control Centers, and distribution panels.
  • Lighting system design, including fixtures, controls, lighting transformers and lighting panels.
  • Create Control Schematics for motor starters, including Direct-on-line starters, variable frequency drives or soft starters.
  • Supervise CAD operators for preparation of design drawings (plans, sections and details using Revit and/or AutoCAD).
  • Conduct Power System Studies, Power Quality Studies.
  • Perform site visits for electrical data gathering, condition assessment and field inspections.
  • Work closely with project managers and other disciplines to plan and prepare construction drawings and provide support as necessary.
  • Manage Electrical Engineering projects, including scope, schedule, and budget, as well as manage client relationships.
  • Participate in studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration.
  • Provide senior review and professional authentication of memos, reports, drawings and other engineering documents.
  • Prepare proposals and reports.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies and utility companies and contractors.
  • Lead and participate in Business Development initiatives.
  • Plan projects, develop accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules and deliverables to execute high quality projects on time and on budget.
  • Mentor and coach project teams, including technical and field staff.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15 plus years progressive experience in the industry with at least 10 years working in a consultancy. Design experience for water and wastewater treatment for municipal facilities will be considered an asset.
  • Must hold a valid P.Eng. designation with the ability to practice in the province of Ontario.
  • Project management (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.
  • Experience or aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting.
  • Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents.
  • Familiar with local design and construction standards and requirements for permits and approvals.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
