Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our talented team. This role will report directly to the Engineering Manager and will focus on the design and architecture of control systems, including analog circuits and algorithms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to assess various engineering solutions to tackle technical challenges and will be expected to propose necessary modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and review documentation related to contracts and purchase orders.
- Participate in initial design phases, contributing conceptual ideas and design methodologies.
- Develop programming for PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components, including robotics and sensors.
- Create engineering documentation such as drawings and bills of materials.
- Identify and procure essential materials and components.
- Investigate new technologies and integrate them into our operations.
- Prepare comprehensive equipment documentation, including installation and maintenance manuals.
- Engage in hands-on wiring of control panels and equipment as needed.
- Provide customer support through on-site and remote programming, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Travel to client locations for the installation and commissioning of equipment.
- Participate in safety reviews and customer training sessions.
- Support internal processes by creating system design documents and workflows.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical controls design and programming.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and RAPID or similar robotic programming languages.
- Intermediate experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and Canadian Electrical Standards.
- Familiarity with relevant programming languages and best practices in development.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel as required.
