About the Emergency Health I&IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch

The Emergency Health I+IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch (EHSTMB) provides technologies to support 911 ambulance communications and emergency health regulatory and oversight including Infrastructure, applications/software and data needs.


Our large and mission critical operations supporting 9-1-1 ambulance communication results in close collaboration with ambulance dispatch operational managers, paramedic services, ORNGE, other first responders and hospital emergency departments to ensure communication technologies are running smoothly and are well integrated to support policies and programs under the Ontario Ambulance Act.

EHSTMB plans for and implements new, best-in-class technologies that prioritize 9-1-1 calls and help dispatchers and first responders assure the right resources are assigned to the right place, with the right information, at the right time.

What can I expect to do in this role?As a Senior Specialist, you will:

  • Work with cluster development & operations teams towards dev-ops automation and technical data applications support.
  • Set up tools and required dev-ops infrastructure, defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operations.
  • Lead functional and technical teams to plan, design, develop, implement, maintain and support ministry and/or enterprise applications
  • Select and deploy appropriate CI/CD tools, strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipelines (CI/CD Pipeline)
  • Provide Tier 2/3 assistance to the team in resolving tickets, defects, as needed
  • Provide authoritative technical advice and expertise on the design, development, deployment and ongoing operation of complex integrated systems and technology platforms that are aligned with our ministries' strategic priorities and digital services transformation objectives
  • Provide focused coaching and mentoring junior developers on areas that are important to the project, team and organization
How do I qualify?Leadership and Coordination:You have the ability to:

  • lead and coordinate investigations and analyze specialized information technology requirements
  • provide technical leadership to scrum teams in designing, developing, and delivering IT Solutions

Technical Knowledge:
You have knowledge of, and experience with:

Application Development Frameworks:
frameworks such as .NET, Java EE, JDK version 8, .NET and Spring for developing robust, scalable applications.

Mobile Development:
mobile development platforms (e.g., Ionic, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, React Native) for creating responsive, user-friendly mobile applications.

Data Processing and Analytics:

big data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Hadoop, Spark) and analytics tools to handle and analyze large datasets, extracting actionable insights.


  • Real-time

Data Processing Solutions:
technologies such as OpenShift, Debezium, Azure Event Hub, Change Data Capture (CDC), Streaming Analytics and Data Factory.

Data Visualization:
Power BI, or custom dashboards using libraries like for presenting data in an accessible and insightful manner.

CI/CD Pipelines:

Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions for automating the stages of software delivery from code integration to deployment.


Databases:
Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) such as MS/Azure SQL and reporting/dashboards/mobile apps.

Database Management:

relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) for storing and retrieving data efficiently.


Automated Testing Tools:

Git (with platforms like GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab) for source code management, facilitating collaboration and version tracking.
