Job Summary: As a Licensed Practical Nurse I, you will be a valuable member of the Resident Care Team in long-term care. You will provide quality nursing care to residents by assisting with daily living activities, providing personal care, and promoting independent living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality nursing care to residents, including assisting with daily living activities and providing personal care
  • Promote independent living and support residents in meeting their physical, social, and spiritual needs
  • Work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to develop and implement care plans
  • Supervise and support Personal Care Attendants as needed
  • Monitor resident outcomes and intervene as necessary

Job Demands: This role requires regular physical exertion, handling, moving, pushing, or pulling objects, and working in awkward positions. You will also be required to stand and move frequently, and to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent contact with the public, residents, and other health professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • Current licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Current BLS certification
  • Gerontology experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of seniors' issues and support best practice in gerontological care
  • Ability to deal effectively with end-of-life issues
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently
