Aston Carter's large client is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join their team on a 6 month contract to hire basis with the intent to take the candidate permanent. The Accounts Receivable Clerk will assist with Accounting with an emphasis on vendor credits using clear, effective, and timely communication, including investigating, and collecting money and/or credit memo owed from vendor accounts. Other duties may include report preparation, reconciliation, analysis assisting staff and management as required or assigned. The ideal candidate has 2 years in an accounting role, with the drive to grow and learn within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with review of vendor accounts regularly to maintain an appropriate level of vendor accounts in a debit balance.
  • Manage collection process of outstanding money and/or credit memo owed from vendor accounts, including establishing relationships with vendors.
  • Credit and collections administration and management with vendors by contacting vendors.
  • Provide support for the on-going maintenance of vendor credit postings. Including processing credits in Canadian dollars and U.S. dollars using the appropriate accounting procedures.
  • Identify and vouch outstanding inventory returns in an appropriate manner. Reconcile to vendor statements, vendor credit memos, and other supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as (but not limited to) Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Sales, Warranty, Warehouse, Marketing etc. to both uncover and resolve discrepancies between vendor credits and inventory returns in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Finance departments when needed.
  • Other related takes or projects as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Canadian experience working in a credit and/or accounts receivable and/or accounts payable department of a medium to large-sized company
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and ASPE
  • Intermediate experience within MS Excel

Nice to Haves:

  • P21 experience is an asset
  • Someone who wants to obtain their CPA or is in the early stages
