Survey Crew Chief

Join our dynamic Geomatics team in Lloydminster, AB, as a Survey Crew Chief. This is an exciting opportunity to work on local projects, collaborate with a talented team, and enjoy a balance of office and field work.

We are looking for a highly organized and collaborative individual with strong communication skills and a positive attitude. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for managing and performing field survey work, liaising with Project Managers, and providing guidance and training to Survey Assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.
  • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  • Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
  • 3+ Years' experience in a Survey Crew Chief role.
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
  • Proficiency with digital leveling, municipal construction and legal survey experience is required.
  • Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
  • The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to provide a clean driver's abstract.

Job Conditions:

  • Primarily local work with occasional work away from home.
  • Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
