Our large Edmonton-based government client has an immediate need for a Data Analytics Specialist for 10 months plus possible extension.

The required work may include but is not limited to machine learning, regression, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, time series analytics, principle component analytics, etc.). All work is expected to be coded properly so that automation is enabled for further iterations/updates of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Leads or is part of a team responsible for the generalizable extraction of knowledge from data by applying various techniques and theories including signal processing, mathematics, probability models, machine learning, computer programming, statistics, data engineering, pattern recognition and learning, visualization, uncertainty modeling, data warehousing, and high performance computing.
  • Experience in Data Analytics or as a Data Scientist.
  • Must be able to apply their skills to provide insights, support decision making and facilitate strategic business planning across the ministry.
  • Requires a focus on understanding predictive analytics, lifetime value and needs-based analytics strategies to simplify, consistently produce and re-use analytical models and assets to drive measurable value.
  • Provide executives and decision makers a deeper understanding of their operations, transactions, services and information required for them to identify new opportunities that can only be uncovered through analytics.
  • Provide depth and insight to data produced by the various teams and transform them into meaningful analytics for decision making.
  • Ensuring delivery processes are robust, of high quality and repeatable
  • Bringing knowledge of statistical classification techniques such as k-means and hierarchical clustering, partition trees, and logistic regression.
  • Developing and measuring success metrics for key projects.
  • Providing strategic agility and the ability to make sense of large amounts of disparate data to tell a cohesive story focused on key strategic decision-making for executives.
  • Integration of both quantitative and qualitative data to create business insights.
  • Design and create dashboards and custom reporting with various data sources and inputs.
  • Analyzing data and preparing information results
  • Gathering and documenting client requirements
  • Designing and constructing information products
  • Capturing business and technical metadata for information products
  • Establish and operate control processes including schedule management, status reporting, issues, risk, and change management at the program level.
  • Escalating issues and risks, as appropriate.
  • Working within a multi-vendor/staff environment.
Qualifications

Mandatory:
Min. 5 years - The proposed resource must be proficient in Microsoft SQL Query Language, T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Database
Min. 5 years - The proposed resource must be proficient in Microsoft BI Stack - SSIS, SSRS
Min. 5 years - The proposed resource must have demonstrated experience in Power BI
Min. 5 years - Experience developing and maintaining relationships with multiple clients and stakeholders, including negotiating agreements and resolving conflicts.
Min. 5 years - Experience leading data science and analytics work, including digital and non-digital services.
Min. 5 years - Experience in the Alberta Public Sector (GoA or ABC).
Min. 3 years - Experience with ERP data migration (PeopleSoft or SAP)

Desirable:
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience with Oracle database SQL development is an asset
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data Platform
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have knowledge of master data management and data governance concepts
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have the ability to learn quickly, problem solve/troubleshoot, work independently and in a team
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience in ERP Implementation/Support
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have good time management skills are required, to produce expected deliverables in tight project timelines
Min. 3 years - The proposed resource should have knowledge and experience through the Systems Development Life Cycle
