Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) required to provide professional nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Company Overview: Shared Health is the lead agency for the planning and coordination of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent nursing services to patients, including administration of prescribed medical treatments and coordination of patient care and discharge.
  • Lead the healthcare team and facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge.
  • Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, critical thinking/problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.
  • Perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team, adapting quickly to changing situations and maintaining concentration with frequent interruptions.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Minimum of two years recent acute nursing experience preferred, with preference given to those with pediatric experience.
  • Knowledge of College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses, Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, and Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities and ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Physical Requirements:
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
