Mechanic

The District of Summerland has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Heavy-Duty or Automotive Mechanic.

Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of a broad range of District vehicles and equipment including fire department vehicles, ice-resurfacers, dump trucks, loaders and a variety of other heavy to light duty and hybrid equipment.

Knowledge of the techniques, tools, equipment and safety procedures pertaining to the maintenance of cars, trucks and heavy mobile equipment is required as well as knowledge of electric and acetylene welding techniques, tools and equipment.

The successful candidate will be a team player with a minimum 5 years' experience.

The applicant will possess a valid BC or Inter-Provincial Red Seal Trades Certificate as either a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Automotive Service Technician or Commercial transport Mechanic as well as a Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Endorsement.


This is a CUPE (union) full time position with a rate of pay of $40.21 per hour along with a competitive benefits package and pension.
