Job Description

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $ $58.74 per hour
Status: Temporary Full-Time (18 months)

The Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE) is a member of the TWH Emergency Department's interprofessional leadership team, and demonstrates a set of core competencies fundamental to developing and maintaining the academic practice environment at UHN. The competencies focus on education and staff development, interprofessional collaboration, scholarly/research activity, and leadership/change management. The APNE uses best practice in education to assess learning needs, develop, design, deliver and evaluate educational programs. The APNE collaborates with others to promote enhanced development and delivery of quality nursing education internally and externally. The Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE) is also a member of Collaborative Academic Practice & Practice-Based Education portfolios. The APNE contributes to the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application and integration of knowledge through research and scholarly work. The APNE leads in the creation of a preferred future for nursing education and professional practice.

Qualifications
  • Masters degree required; A Masters in Nursing or Education is preferred
  • Theoretical and practical experience in adult education including learning needs assessment, educational program planning, development, and evaluation
  • At least three (3) years of previous Emergency Nursing experience preferred
  • Completion of Emergency Nursing certification or specialty-specific certification program(s) relevant to the respective clinical area preferred
  • Previous experience as an Educator is an asset
  • Current certificate of licensure/registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Excellent leadership, time management, presentation skills
  • Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and collaboration, facilitate change and promote continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate staff and create an environment conducive to learning and team building
  • Sound knowledge base in areas of specialty and the education process
  • Able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse management and employee groups and individuals
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in new environments, adapt, implement and manage changes and facilitate its acceptance by others
  • Ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Interprets, communicates and disseminates research findings to support patient care and recommends evidence-based policy and practice changes
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable with use of technology; knowledge of computer systems and software applications
