Electrical and Control Technician/Technologist

About the Role:

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join our team as an Electrical and Control Technician/Technologist. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to the company's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts, while working in a fast-paced environment that requires troubleshooting, assessing, inspecting, adjusting, and making repairs to electrical and control equipment and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and participate in the periodic teardown and internal inspection of major equipment and subcomponents.
  • Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain, and overhaul electrical/electronic/control/protection/telecommunication or testing equipment associated with generating stations and facilities.
  • Prepare electrical, control, instrumentation, protection, and telecommunication sketches, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Carry out measurements, including testing of electrical equipment to recognized standards and procedures.
  • Determine generating system reliability and power system production.
  • Participate in studies associated with energy production, load, and capacity, demand management, etc., and provide regular and on-demand reports.
  • Establish and maintain documentation/program files.
  • Provide technical support, advice, coordination, and assistance regarding emerging work, projects, and daily routines.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical Instrumentation, and Control or equivalency.
  • Experience in a variety of environmental and performance testing, as well as field data acquisition.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the company's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts.
