Job Title: Strategic Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team at Carleton University. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications and marketing campaigns to promote the university's brand and engage with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications and marketing campaigns to promote the university's brand and engage with various stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic communications and marketing advice to faculty and staff to support their goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain the university's website and social media presence to ensure consistency and accuracy of information.
  • Design and develop digital communication strategies and campaigns to engage with prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise and lead a team of communications staff to ensure effective implementation of communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications and marketing campaigns to inform future strategies and tactics.

Requirements:

  • University honours degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or English.
  • Five years of related communications, marketing, and digital content creation experience, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience in developing branding, advertising, and marketing campaigns.
  • Expertise in designing, developing, and implementing digital communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Significant experience in websites and social media in terms of content creation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Expertise in digital layout and/or graphic design for web, email, and social media.
  • Professional experience in digital photography, videography, and digital editing for optimal use on web, email, and social media.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience supervising or leading a part-time staff team.
  • Proven ability to develop, create, write, and edit content to strict and frequent deadlines.
  • Strong time management, with excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Strong research, problem-solving skills, creative thinking skills, as well as initiative.
  • Strong knowledge of the university's culture, institutional, and faculty goals and objectives.
