Responsible for designing, building, operating, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and other integrated infrastructure equipment and systems for BMO Financial Group's facilities worldwide.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing solutions and making recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Providing advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of solutions.

- Supporting the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

- Designing and producing regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
- Leading or participating in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; developing tailored messaging; and identifying appropriate distribution channels.
- Providing input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Planning or maintaining the reliable operation of integrated facility infrastructure support systems (e.g. electrical and mechanical systems, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), emergency power generators, hydro power, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), fire detection and suppression, electrical power monitoring system) and building automation systems to fulfil mandated uptime commitment.
- Inspecting grounds, facilities, and infrastructure support systems, and their performance to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance, and conducting scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance.
- Identifying and investigating issues to determine causes, performing minor repairs, documenting work, and engaging internal resources or external service providers and resolving issues or escalating to the manager; providing communication to management and key stakeholders.
- Responding to building occupant requests and concerns that resolve facility issues.
- Exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Working independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
Qualifications:
- Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or trade certification is optional but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with building infrastructure system design electrical and/or mechanical engineering, preferably within a mission critical facility and/or financial services environment.
- Solid experience with electrical and/or mechanical and architectural planning and design related to high availability computer facilities, field construction methods, construction cost estimation, and fire prevention including experience providing emergency response support.
- Good understanding of environmental requirements of computer hardware, data communications, business process equipment, and overall building systems in continuous production environments and associated risks and impacts.
- Experience with reviewing project documentation and providing feedback and translating business requirements into system solutions.
- Working knowledge of construction codes, by-laws, facilities management, operations, health and safety, and industry standards pertaining to critical systems planning, engineering design and installation.
- Familiarity with financial budgeting and financial processes, operations and construction contract policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
- Exposure to process and/or project management tools and methodologies.
- Basic understanding of risk and regulatory requirements, policies, and best practices relevant to financial institutions.
- Proficiency with planning design software tools, AutoCAD database management, and the Microsoft Office suite.
