The District of West Vancouver Utilities Operation Department is seeking a temporary full-time Equipment Operator III – Vac Truck to operate and maintain heavy mobile equipment in accordance with safety practices and regulations. The successful candidate will possess considerable experience in the operation of various equipment, including vacuum trucks, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers.

  • Operate a Vacuum Truck and other equipment in various tasks, including maintenance and construction of water, sewer, and drainage assets.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and submit inspection reports.
  • Provide manual labor assistance on various tasks as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Three years of related experience in the operation of Flusher/Vacuum Truck, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers.
  • A valid class 1 or 3 Drivers' License with air brake endorsement.
  • Mechanical aptitude and adequate physical stamina to perform assigned duties in all types of weather.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating and maintaining heavy mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performing manual labor tasks as required.
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication skills.

The District of West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore, home to parks, beaches, and sports, recreation, and arts amenities. We are seeking employees with a passion for public service who share our commitment to creating a complete, inclusive, and livable environment.

The position is a temporary full-time opportunity, approximately 11 months in duration. The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week, with hours and days of work varying.

The rate of pay for this position is $37.39 per hour, plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
