We are seeking a Resident Care Manager to lead our team in providing exceptional care to residents, promoting a culture of person-centered care, teamwork, and a healthy work environment.
The ideal candidate is a warm and loving person who makes meaningful connections with those they are caring for. They will be responsible for the overall provision of personal support care and services to residents, ensuring adequate resources are available to provide quality care.
The Resident Care Manager will participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, act as a resource, mentor, and coach to Personal Support Workers, and promote the philosophy of person-centered care, teamwork, and a healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direction to the PSW team in aspects of resident care.
- Promote person-centered care, teamwork, and a healthy work environment.
- Promote Nursing Restorative Therapy and the Butterfly Approach to care.
- Model, listen, and assist with conflict and problem resolution.
- Participate in the review of policies and procedures in the personal support services area.
- Chair monthly Personal Support Worker meetings.
- Responsible for the orientation of new PSWs to the home's systems, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate documentation of PSW staff.
- Supervise Personal Support Workers' performance and resident routines and activities.
- Responsible for understanding and employing the collective agreement.
- Collaborate with the Director of Care and the Employee Engagement Specialist to oversee the recruitment and retention needs of Personal Support Workers.
- Counsel and discipline Personal Support Workers.
- Administer medication in the scope of a Personal Support Worker and mentor and coach other PSWs in this skill.
- Deliver customer service with staff, residents, families, and the general public.
- Mentorship and Preceptor Program-Meet with preceptors and mentors to guide and develop staff.
- Work with Continence Promotion Leaders to stay within the continence product monthly quota.
- Follow through on areas/issues identified through the QI program.
- Participate in CQI activities and QIP processes.
- Conduct audits as assigned.
- Identify potential liability issues and take action to minimize risks.
- Perform daily rounds on all resident home areas and touch base with staff.
- Monitor and teach the role of a PSW in all required programs.
- Assist with admission and discharge process.
- Ensure Nursing Restorative Therapy is being performed and documented.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- PSW Certification from a program that is at least six hundred (600) hours in duration.
- Certification in Medication Administration for Support Workers.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Managerial skills.
- Good interpersonal, leadership, and computer skills.
- Training in P.I.E.C.E.S and/or GPA.
- Training in Nursing Restorative.
- Flexibility with work hours.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Long Term Care.
- French speaking an asset.
- Italian speaking an asset.
