About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Emotional Wellness Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Hants Health and Wellness Team, you will play a vital role in facilitating health and wellness programs and supporting citizens in accessing resources that promote healthy behaviors.

Responsibilities of the Emotional Wellness Specialist include:

  • Meeting with individuals and families to support them in prioritizing needs and navigating healthcare and community resources.
  • Counselling individuals and groups with mild to moderate emotional distress using a Solution-Focused Approach and providing brief interventions to promote self-management of emotional wellness.
  • Developing and facilitating group-based programs to address emotional wellness needs from a holistic perspective.
  • Researching and maintaining awareness of community resources and developing partnerships with local organizations.
  • Conducting community engagement and outreach activities to promote the team's services and programs.

Requirements for the Emotional Wellness Specialist position include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant health profession, such as Social Work or Counselling.
  • Registration with a professional regulatory association is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mental health, primary healthcare, or community settings.
  • Experience in individual counselling, group education, and facilitation using self-management principles.
  • Knowledge of population health, health promotion strategies, and behavior change principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
