Job Summary:
This is a senior-level position that requires a high level of expertise and experience in dental assisting. The successful candidate will provide daily supervision to dental assistants, coordinate schedules, and ensure patient charts are complete and up-to-date.
- Supervise and mentor dental assistants to ensure they are performing their duties to the highest standard.
- Coordinate schedules for dental professional staff, prioritizing patient appointments and ensuring continuity of care.
- Ensure patient charts are complete and up-to-date, checking for missing documentation and following up as necessary.
- Screen patients and assess their dental needs, scheduling appointments accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and medical/dental staff to ensure seamless care.
- Maintain accurate records and files, including treatment plans and study models.
- Perform chair-side duties as a dental assistant, maintaining infection control and adhering to legislation.
- Orient new staff to departmental practices and procedures.
- Contribute to departmental statistics and workload analysis for budget purposes.
- Use computer software to maintain files and databases.
- Assist in creating patient information pamphlets and contribute to clinical studies.
- Apply topical chemotherapy to oral lesions.
What You Bring:
- Grade 12 graduation and completion of a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program.
- Current registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.
- Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with patients and staff.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
