We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at Targeted Talent. This is a permanent position that offers remote work options with the possibility of relocation to Calgary or Winnipeg in the future.
About the RoleThis is a challenging opportunity for an experienced engineer to own development projects, provide technical guidance, and deliver against the Platform & Service Operations Engineering roadmap.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement Wargames to test operational response and identify areas of weakness in our platforms.
- Provide technical and management escalation support for Service Operations Centre (SOC) engineers and during major incidents.
- Troubleshoot, reproduce, and mitigate issues in our production environments.
- Mentor and guide other team members.
- Operate global AWS Platforms at scale.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
- Proficiency in Java development.
- Major incident management experience operating production platforms at scale.
- Experience working with distributed web applications.
- Experience automating operational tasks and processes using various languages.
- Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL data structures.
- Experience mentoring and influencing peers.
- Ability to identify improvements, highlight risks vs benefits, and translate them into technical requirements.
- Experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Experience working with Serverless and Containers.
- Experience with ELK, Graphite, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Experience with Tracing Tools in production.
- Experience in Chaos Engineering and Failure Injection Testing.
- Experience working in an Agile Environment.
- Experience in a similar Site Reliability role.
