Site Manager role requires 10+ years of experience in oil sands and light civil construction, with a strong background in managing teams and operations effectively.

Launched in 1998, Bouchier has grown to be a leading provider of integrated site services to the Athabasca Oil Sands region. With a strong belief in doing the right things in the right way, Bouchier is now one of the largest companies owned and operated by Indigenous peoples in the area.

The Site Manager oversees daily operations at the site, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Key responsibilities include:

  • Audits progress of on-going projects, ensuring adherence to approved plans and specifications.
  • Critically reviews work orders, invoices, and other documents to determine accuracy and conformance to contractual commitments.
  • Inspects job sites to ensure conformance of subcontractors and site employees to established worksite policies and practices.
  • Ensures safety and quality assurance programs are observed.
  • Understands contracting methods, scheduling, and blueprint reading.
  • Ensures that projects are built to client specifications.
  • Assists with maintaining the contracting schedule and work efficiency.
  • Conducts Lost Prevention Observation (LPO) with Site Safety.
  • Executes and manages the operational budget.
  • Ensures continual open communication and strong working relationships with clients and client representatives.
  • Meets regularly with site leadership to review current policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Manages conflict and resolves issues as they occur.
  • Manages all sub-trades, workers, and suppliers, ensuring they perform according to their contract.
  • Maintains detailed activity records and prepares activity reports.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and mandates of local, provincial, and federal agencies.
  • Represents the organization at site meetings, business meetings, supplier, and contractor sites.
  • Reviews and administers short and medium-range operational plans, goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in oil sands and light civil construction.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation).
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
  • Successful progression through roles.
  • Previous experience managing 200+ employees is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
  • Adaptable to changing work environments.
  • Proven conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organizational skills (Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently).
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply sound judgment to work situations.
  • Ability to deliver with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and understand construction work packages and related documents.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using standard procedures.
  • Applicants must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
