Controller - ISANS

On behalf of the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS), we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join their team full-time. The Controller will play a crucial role in guiding financial strategy, ensuring the integrity of accounting operations, and supporting the organization's mission. This role involves leading the accounting team, managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, and supporting program fund reporting. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping ISANS achieve its financial and operational goals.

The Controller will be responsible for developing and managing financial budgets and forecasts, preparing cash-flow projections, and analyzing financial statements to provide strategic recommendations to leadership. Supporting the CFO in preparing presentations for the Board and staff meetings, you will also be tasked with hiring, onboarding, and developing the Accounting Team. Establishing and refining procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and staying current with accounting practices and sector-related knowledge are key components of this position.

To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, a CPA designation in good standing, and at least 7-10 years of progressive financial experience, including five years in a management role. Experience in public accounting and the not-for-profit sector is an asset. Proficiency with Sage, NetSuite, MS Office Suite, and databases, along with strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant legislation, are essential. Excellent organizational, team, and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team are key.
