Facility Manager Facility Manager

The City of Mississauga is seeking a highly skilled Facility Manager to oversee the operations of our recreational facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our facilities, while also developing and implementing strategies to improve our services and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and codes related to facility management, including health and safety regulations.
  • Implement risk management and quality control measures to minimize risks and ensure high-quality services.
  • Oversee facility operations and maintenance, including managing service requests, reviewing work order reports, and ensuring regulatory preventative maintenance checks are completed.
  • Manage capital projects and renovations, including identifying and prioritizing requests for facility renovations, overseeing project completion, and providing leadership for demand maintenance work.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among staff, business units, and external partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and manage projects, including preparing project charters, monthly status reports, and briefing notes.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recreation facility administration and operations.
  • Manage legal agreements and corporate initiatives, including overseeing license, management, operations, and partnership agreements.
  • Support quality assurance and workplace values, including promoting a workplace that values diversity, inclusion, respect, fairness, and continuous learning and development.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff, including hiring, developing, and monitoring performance for full-time and part-time employees.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a recognized university or college program in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in facility management, programming, and administration at a supervisory level.
  • Experience with compliance, risk management, project management, and quality assurance programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • On-call availability for emergency situations and ability to handle legislative issues and policy requirements.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet community needs and staff/program supervision.
  • Diverse experience in multi-component facilities, legal agreements, and liaising with internal and external partners.
