Food Service Assistant

Join our team at Shared Health, a leader in patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and distributing patient meal services while ensuring safe food handling practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and assemble meal trays accurately according to defined portion size and tray tickets.
  • Prepare and portion food items as indicated on tallies, prep charts, and nourishment labels.
  • Stock and replenish food and supplies in designated areas.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, small wares, and service areas.
  • Label and deliver carts to designated areas.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Programs.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in food service.
  • Minimum Grade 10, Manitoba Standards required.
  • A valid Food Handlers Certificate is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
Physical Requirements
  • The strength demands of the job are rated as medium, handling 20 to 45 lbs.
  • Position involves bending, gripping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Working in a cold environment (310 degrees) and/or warm environment.
  • Exposure to chemical cleaning supplies.
