About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Early Years Manager, the Enhanced Home Visiting (EHV) Coordinator is an essential member of the interdisciplinary, collaborative Public Health team responsible for the delivery of programs and services according to NS Public Health Standards and Protocols.

The EHV Coordinator provides support to Community Home Visitors (CHV) who work with families during the prenatal, postpartum and early childhood period and focusses on families who are potentially vulnerable or at risk of poor child health and development outcomes. The CHV uses a family-centered, strengths-based approach to deliver the Enhanced Home Visiting (EHV) Program. Growing Great Kids (GGK) is the foundation of home visits.

The EHV Coordinator works collaboratively with the Early Years team (Public Health Nurses (PHNs), Community Home Visitors, Administrative Support, Early Years Consultant and Manager, as well as community partners to ensure quality case management and service delivery for the Enhanced Home Visiting program.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in health, social sciences, counselling, or early childhood education/ Development; and/or an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • One (1) year previous related job experience required
  • Counselling skills would be considered an asset
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Skype, Early Years Application)
  • A valid Nova Scotia drivers' license and/or access daily to reliable transportation
  • Travel to other sites and community organizations and meetings required
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of and ability to link with community resources
  • Experience in parenting, and/or working with young children and families
  • Knowledge and skill related to case management
  • Knowledge of child growth and development/early child development
  • Ability to take direction, work as part of a team and work independently
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive/safe, respectful, non-judgmental, patient and understanding
  • Good oral and written skills; excellent interpersonal skills in individual and group settings
  • Knowledge of adult learning and motivational communication principles

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities consistent with LEADS framework

  • Competencies in other languages an asset

Hours
  • Permanent, full-time (100%) position; 70 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$ $39.23Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
