Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical design project teams at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating world-class electrical designs for various projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Design Leadership: Lead electrical design project teams to create innovative and efficient electrical designs that meet client needs and requirements.
  • Project Management: Manage project schedules, scopes, budgets, and staffing plans to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Electrical Equipment Design: Design and specify electrical equipment, including packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  • Vendor Management: Review electrical equipment vendor drawings and data interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Construction Administration: Coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Field Inspections: Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Business Development: Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice, mentor and guide less experienced engineers, and ensure QA/QC process adherence.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of electrical engineering experience, or Bachelor's degree in electrical or related engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience: Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures, strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards, and experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
  • Skills: Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
