About the RoleAs a Cloud-Init Team Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Building and leading a globally distributed team of engineers
- Developing talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
- Working with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team
- Effectively setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
- Advocating and advancing modern, agile software development practices
- Developing and evangelizing great engineering and organizational practices
- Growing a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values
- Participating in strong engineering process through code and architectural review
- Engaging with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and commercial partners
- Overseeing the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family
- Planning and delivering Ubuntu Server features
We are looking for a leader who:
- Loves developing and growing people and has a strong track record of doing it
- Is knowledgeable and passionate about software development
- Has 3+ years of experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers
- Is focused on success and the delivery of timely, high-quality software
- Has experience working in an agile development environment
- Has a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar degree
- Has strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
- Has experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, Debian, or Ubuntu preferred
- Has practical experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services
