Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Public Area Attendant to join our dynamic team at the Red Deer Resort & Casino. As a Public Area Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our hotel premises are kept in impeccable condition, creating a welcoming environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Efficiently clean assigned public areas, including washrooms, fitness centers, pools, restaurants, lounges, lobbies, and elevators.
  • Service Area Cleaning: Clean all assigned service areas, keeping them clean, safe, and hygienic.
  • Stock Management: Pack and replenish trolleys to the required standard at the end of each shift; keep trolleys neat and tidy.
  • Guest Services: Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Lost Property: Record lost property items left in public areas and provide them to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Promptly report maintenance and safety hazards to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Take personal responsibility for equipment, ensuring it is operated correctly and secure at all times.
  • Chemical Handling: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all chemicals and cleaning products and the correct handling procedures.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Attend departmental briefings, training, meetings, etc., as directed by the Supervisor/Manager, ensuring all relevant information is passed on.
  • Security: Report any unusual or suspicious persons/activities happening in the area of security to the manager, looking after the welfare and safety of both staff and guests.
  • Inventory Management: Responsible for replacing and reporting missing items in a public area, such as paper towel dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, soap dispensers, etc.
Requirements
  • Criminal Record Check: Must be able to provide a clean criminal record check.
  • Physical Ability: Physically able to perform all duties of the position.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to follow instructions and to work independently.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Workplace Safety: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset.
  • Teamwork and Attitude: Strong work ethic and positive team attitude - Able to communicate both verbally and written in English.
  • Chemical Handling: Comfortable with using common household chemicals.
  • First Aid/CPR: First Aid/CPR preferred.
Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Able to stand and walk repeatedly over the course of a shift.
  • Environmental Factors: Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold, and water.
  • Lifting and Moving: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Physical Activities: While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Exposure to Contaminants: Regularly exposed to including but not limited to contaminants, industrial cleaning chemicals, and dust and dirt.
Hours of Work
  • Variable Scheduling: The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include early morning, evening, and late night, as well as weekends and holidays.
