About the Role

CBC News British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Associate Producer to join our team in Prince Rupert. As a key member of our radio/audio current affairs and video streaming production team, you will work closely with producers and reporters to deliver high-quality editorial content for our local radio program, Daybreak North, and all CBC B.C.'s content platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to and pitch ideas for program content, participating in the preparation of program objectives.
  • Direct live radio program teams in studio, ensuring seamless execution of broadcasts.
  • Perform on-air duties through various platforms, showcasing your expertise and engaging with audiences.
  • Obtain necessary technical and production resources, including studios, crews, lines, uplinks, remotes, and other equipment.
  • Assist in developing program and digital/video content, including writing, researching, field production, and editing.
  • Prepare scripts, ensuring adherence to style and format guidelines.
  • Organize participant briefings, develop background information, and conduct research as needed.
  • Maintain contact files and create engaging content for digital social platforms.
  • Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of production, upholding high journalistic standards.
Requirements
  • Strong writing and editorial abilities, with a deep understanding of BC's northern geography and diverse issues.
  • Ability to generate, pitch, and pursue strong story ideas, with a focus on community connections and diverse perspectives.
  • Proven ability to work with a team, with occasional leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to present on-air.
  • University degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years in a similar position.
