About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general repetitive tasks in maintaining assigned areas, with due consideration for patients, visitors, and staff. This includes maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in assigned areas as directed, according to established standards, observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques.

The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They will also be able to participate in On-the-Job Training programs, seek clarification of duties when indicated, offer assistance and/or instruction to co-workers, and extend courtesy and consideration to others in interpersonal relationships.

About You

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12/GED required or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods that apply to a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be compensated at a rate of $20.02 per hour.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
