Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of the Asset Servicing Department in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Serve as point of contact and subject matter expert for all client queries/concerns on asset servicing related events (reorgs, dividends, fixed income, proxies).
  • Ensure all queries are answered in a timely manner (20-minute SLA) and all information provided is accurate and clear.
  • Ensure clients are notified of upcoming corporate actions mandatory and voluntary events pertaining to securities they hold in their accounts.
  • Advise clients of their potential liability for events where they hold short and then confirm final liability upon payment of the event.
  • Ensure elections for voluntary events are accurately passed to the appropriate CA team in a timely manner and follow up for confirmation that elections have been submitted and accepted by the agent/global custodian. Coordinate completion of any documentation that may be required for a particular event.
  • Serve as point of contact for all communication between front and back-office teams for prime brokerage to ensure a smooth flow of information and any requests are facilitated as necessary.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
