Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Proposals and Contract Management, the Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for coordinating mining equipment deals for our Mining Producers and Strategic customers requiring Finning Canada Board of Directors approval including financial due diligence, adherence to the large deal process, and profitability of each mining equipment sale in partnership with the respective product manager. As part of the mining sales & marketing team, responsible for achievement of the mining equipment AOP. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship-builder, skilled in facilitating collaboration between dealership departments and with external parties. Strong project management and interpersonal skills are also critical.

Job Description:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of direct reports, including coaching and mentoring, strategic planning and direction, performance objectives, recruitment, selection and orientation.
  • Support growth and development opportunities for the team while developing an engaged, inspired, and innovative team.
  • Develop a performance-based culture, both team and individual, to assure continuous improvement and alignment with company objectives.
  • Develop standard mining deal calculation tool; review each sale for consistency, and calculation accuracy, and develop/disseminate sales reports to mining leadership.
  • Identifying and assigning work streams to all stakeholders internally and with Caterpillar.
  • Develop, review, and participate in the presentation of Stage-Gate presentations to the Executive.
  • Provide input to the response documents in various areas where subject matter experts provide background information.
  • Responsible for identifying and documenting financial, operational and execution risks in the proposal.
  • Perform a final review of the customer submission before delivery to the customer.
  • Manage the governance and compliance in the BluePrint process of the opportunities.
Education & Experience:
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant mining industry experience an asset.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing or related business study is required.
  • An in-depth product and market knowledge of mining equipment and their respective application.
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain documents such as financial reports and legal service agreements.
  • Ability to write routine reports and effective correspondence for internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of employees and be a team player who motivates and educates other team members.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities for both individual and internal responsibilities and tasks.
  • Ability to travel across the territory to visit customers and branches is required.
