Your Opportunity:

Rimbey Long Term Care is an 84 bed unit located in a rural setting where Registered Nurses work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide Client and Family Centered Care. The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) will be required to provide leadership including direction, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback and client care coordination to other professionals and unregulated staff. In this case coordination role the RN/RPN must have the ability to use critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement and evaluate Client Centered Care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of Care planning and tracking tools, InterRai LTCF, Netcare, CCHSS, Microsoft Office - Excel and Word, Connect Care. Must have moderate computer skills, with a working knowledge of office equipment. Great interpersonal communication skills, experience in conflict management and Nonviolent crisis intervention, ability to multitask and be a critical thinker in stressful and challenging situations. Dementia care and management of adverse behaviors. Be comfortable in a team working environment as well as ability to work independently with critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
An understanding of wound care process, behavioral management and conflict resolution, as well as training in the Continuing care Facility Living Nurse connect care course would be an asset.
