The Position:

Western Archrib is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mass Timber Project Manager to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Mass Timber Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of our mass timber projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards across North America.


Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Lead the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate all aspects of project execution, including design, procurement, fabrication, shipping and installation to ensure the best outcome for the project in terms of quality, cost and schedule while monitoring project progress.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply your in-depth knowledge of mass timber materials, construction methods, and building codes to provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Review project drawings, contracts, specifications, and engineering documents to ensure compliance and optimize performance.
  • Resource Management: Manage project resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials. Achieve project milestones and objectives for internal and external stakeholders by identifying resource requirements, allocating tasks, and proactively monitoring steps and progress.
  • Financial Management: Monitor, maintain and track all financial aspects of the project. Includes procurement processes, forecasting and cash flow, negotiating revisions and additions to contractual agreements, project billings, closeouts and other financial administration as required.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Develop contingency plans or alternate solutions and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Foster strong relationships built on trust, transparency, and effective communication. Ensure client satisfaction by providing updates proactively, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
  • Other Duties: As requested.


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience in engineering, construction management, architecture, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on mass timber or wood-framed structures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from conception to completion, with demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of mass timber materials, manufacturing processes, and construction techniques is preferred.
  • Able to work independently in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Teams and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders such as internal teams and external partners.
  • CAD knowledge and PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.
