Position Overview:


The Contract Instrumentation Engineer will work on-site in Redwater, AB, performing essential duties related to instrumentation design and engineering. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including system design, documentation, and compliance, with a focus on practical, hands-on work.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Instrumentation Design & Engineering: Develop and review designs for instrumentation systems, including calculations, sizing, and selection of components like flow meters, control valves, and actuators.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation such as logic diagrams, cause and effect matrices, and area classification reports.
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site engineering support, ensuring the effective installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all instrumentation designs and installations comply with relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to integrate instrumentation systems into overall project designs and ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any technical issues that arise, providing practical solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.


Experience:

  • Proven experience in instrumentation design and engineering, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience for an intermediate role.


  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation technologies, including flow meters, control valves, and actuators.


Technical Skills:


  • Strong understanding of calculations, sizing, and selection of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in cable engineering, termination, grounding, and cabinet design.
  • Familiarity with logic diagrams, cause and effect matrices, and area classification.
  • Knowledge of SIS, safety controls/protection systems, PLC hardware, analyzers design, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems is an asset.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
