Leak Detection Analyst

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Leak Detection Analyst to join a major pipeline organization out of Sherwood Park, Alberta. This is starting as a 6 month contract, with high likelihood of extension as it is backfilling a permanent resource.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyze, test and tune compensated volume balance and real time transient model leak detection systems (computational pipeline monitoring systems) to achieve optimal leak detection ability/sensitivity, and align with company targeted thresholds and industry regulatory requirements

• Maintain the integrity of the leak detection systems by updating the configuration of pipeline segments; incorporating any new pipeline delivery points and meters

• Participate in the design, development and implementation of leak detection systems for pipeline projects

• Provide assistance to Control Centre operators in troubleshooting leak detection alarms

• Actively participate in leak management investigations and alarm leak management protocol

• Coordinate the execution of CSA-Z662-11 Annex E, API 1149 calculations and API 1130 test methods for pipeline models

• Create/maintain a list of critical instruments and processes that affect leak detection including instrument accuracy requirement

• Develop plans to evaluate leak detection performance and implement changes following company procedures and processes

• Provide standby and call-out support

Required Skills & Experience

• Post-secondary education in a technical/engineering field (engineering, engineering technology, computer system, etc.) a plus.

• Working knowledge of and experience with leak detection related regulatory requirements and best practices

• Direct experience developing transient models in Energy Solution’s (Emerson) Pipeline Manager.

• Three + years of experience related to transient hydraulic modeling and/or computational pipeline monitoring (CPM).
