A CPA Professional Accounting Firm practicing for over 16 years in Calgary, Alberta is looking for a Temporary (Mat Leave Position fill up) with potential to be permanent full-time position as Accountant for its Calgary Public Practice Office.

Technical Job Requirements include:

  • Knowledge and Hands on Experience on full cycle of Accounting including preparation of Adjusting Journal entries, Trial Balance. Must know the basic Double Entry system and able to build the Journal entries without assistance (Technical competency verified).
  • Reconciliation of Bank Accounts, Accounts Receivable Statement of Account, Accounts Payable Vendor Statement of Account and Expense Statement.
  • Assist senior accountant in the preparation of Financial Statements.
  • Experience in preparation of GST Returns including its elements and Accounting of Transactions.
  • Experience in Compilation Engagements, Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards and Procedures.
  • Minimum 1-2 year Previous Experience in a Public Practice Accounting Firm is a REQUIREMENT for this position though Training is provided for all aspects of the job. Foreign Trained Accountants are welcome to apply with Foreign Experience.

Education

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in accounting

Other responsibilities include:

  • You must like numbers and provide analytical acumen
  • Hands on experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook. Higher familiarity with Computer Systems (Paperless Office)
  • Hands on Experience in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online Accounting Software.
  • High Level Liaison with Customers, receive feedback, resolve issues and follow ups.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • High Level of Communication skills including Verbal and Written skills. Knowledge of Punjabi and Hindi language though not required for the job but will be preferred.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates initiative by proactively identifying potential solutions to problems, or making recommendations to enhance operational efficiencies
  • Ability to adapt to change and flexibility to take on varied tasks
  • Strong work ethic and professional integrity.
