Job Overview: As a Sushi Chef at KINKA IZAKAYA, you’ll be responsible for preparing and executing various sushi rolls, nigiri, oshizushi, and sashimi using advanced techniques and knife skills. Collaborating with the Head Chef and General Manager, you’ll ensure exceptional guest experiences and manage back-of-house operations efficiently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce menu items, adhering to brand standards.
  • Clean and prepare seafood ingredients for sushi and kitchen dishes.
  • Order fresh seafood daily, collaborating with the Sous Chef/Head Chef.
  • Ensure food freshness and quality, rotating stock as needed.
  • Complete opening and closing duties efficiently and safely.
  • Train new employees according to company standards.
  • Adhere to health, food safety, and hygiene standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of culinary experience as a Sushi Chef.
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Japanese culinary experience is an asset.
  • Post-Secondary Education or equivalent work experience.
  • Food Safety and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications required.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Japanese or French are assets.
  • Strong leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • High attention to detail.

Physical Demands: This position requires standing for up to 8 hours per shift, walking, bending, lifting up to 25lbs, and other physical activities.
