We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with expertise in Java and Spring frameworks to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend systems development, specifically focused on interfacing between middleware, mainframe databases, and web services/APIs. You will work closely with our development team to ensure seamless integration of various backend components, with no end-user interface development required.


Must be able to come onsite in a hybrid capacity 2 days/week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend systems using Spring Boot, Spring Data (JPA, JDBC), and Java 8/17.
  • Design and implement secure backend solutions leveraging Spring Security (OAuth, LDAP).
  • Work with tools like Maven, Jenkins, Gradle, Git, and Nexus/DevOps to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain APIs and backend services, interfacing with mainframe databases and transactions systems.
  • Ensure security of APIs and backend transactions, with a focus on SSO, MFA, PingFed, OIDC, and OAuth protocols.
  • Collaborate with teams to design backend architectures that interface with ATMs, middleware, and mainframe systems.
  • Contribute to upcoming projects involving Azure development and cloud-based backend architecture.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and troubleshooting efforts to ensure high-quality backend systems.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Java (8/17) and Spring Boot expertise, with hands-on experience in Spring Data, Spring Security, and API development.
  • Experience with backend development tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Gradle, Git, and Nexus.
  • Strong knowledge of SSO, MFA, and security protocols like OAuth, OIDC, PingFed.
  • Familiarity with RESTful web services and REST API security best practices.
  • Experience with backend system integration between middleware and mainframe databases.
  • Solid understanding of Mockito for unit testing and achieving code coverage, as well as the Lambda pattern and Runnable interface in Java.
  • Understanding of SSL validation for HTTPS in REST templates and ability to troubleshoot security issues.


Preferred Skills:

  • Scala development experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Azure development and cloud-based backend systems is an advantage.
  • Understanding of mainframe systems and database transaction management.
  • Interview Topics (You should be familiar with):
  • Lambda expressions in Java and how they apply to the Runnable interface.
  • Using Mockito for testing, achieving 100% code coverage, and exception handling in controllers.
  • Securing REST API calls and how SSL validation works for HTTPS.
