Company Overview:

Metal Supermarkets continues to grow We are seeking Manager, Purchasing and Pricing to provide support and oversight to our network of 125 franchise and corporate stores throughout North America and the UK.


Position Mandate:

The Manager, Purchasing and Pricing, will play a crucial role in managing the procurement of metal for corporate stores in the United Kingdom and the USA, supporting the business with strategic pricing monitoring, analysis and recommendations. This position is responsible for ensuring the company’s purchasing is effectively executed, and provides essential support to operational staff in achieving competitive pricing in multiple markets and online. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will work on a Hybrid basis from our Head Office in West Toronto, Ontario.


Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing Strategies, Cost Management & Market Research:

  • Effective purchasing strategies development & implementation to secure the best costs & quality for larger quantities of metal products for corporate stores.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to establish favorable terms, conditions, & pricing.
  • Market Research - monitor market trends & adjust purchasing strategies to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Establish & maintain strong relationships with key suppliers & vendors.
  • Ensure timely & efficient procurement processes to avoid stock outs & excess inventory.
  • Monitor, analyze & maintain cost information in the ERP system to ensure accuracy & integrity.


Pricing Analysis and Recommendations:

  • Conduct thorough market research & analysis to determine competitive pricing strategies.
  • Develop measurement tools to identify changing market trends.
  • Provide pricing recommendations to optimize online, corporate store & franchisee sales & profitability.
  • Develop pricing models & tools to assist in making informed pricing decisions.
  • Monitor pricing performance & adjust strategies as necessary to meet financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with digital and operational teams to develop promotional pricing strategies.


Support to Franchisees and Operational Staff:

  • Provide, as requested, training & guidance to franchisees & corporate staff on procurement processes & pricing strategies.
  • Assist operational staff in resolving selected purchasing & pricing-related issues.


Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, & pricing performance.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends & opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist the CFO in budgeting & forecasting related to purchasing & pricing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Professional accreditations in purchasing, supply chain management and/or financial analysis are a benefit.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing & pricing, preferably in the metal distribution industry.
  • Strong negotiation & vendor management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in financial planning & analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, BI tools & advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
