Role Overview:

Our Toronto office is currently recruiting for an AV Technician in Information Technology Department, reporting to Manager, IT Service Desk. This role will support AV and general technology for our Client Centre and firm meeting rooms. This position requires a candidate who can demonstrate “best in class” customer service capabilities. As a front line and client facing firm member, the ideal candidate must present well, be articulate and work independently in conference room setup and troubleshoot client technology needs that may be very different from firm standards. This position also requires the candidate to be on-site full-time.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Oversee operation and quality of boardroom and meeting room AV technology to ensure equipment is in good condition.
  • Conduct daily sound, visual, and quality checks on AV equipment.
  • Work with the vendor to fine-tune and optimize meeting room equipment when needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for boardroom meeting setup and fulfill any special requests.
  • Perform daily AV and boardroom meetings per client requests.
  • Provide post meeting video and sound editing services.
  • Coordinate with IT, where needed, for more complex AV set ups with external clients and courts.
  • Review boardroom bookings for daily meetings requiring AV support in boardroom.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activity with the AV vendor.
  • Maintain inventory of all loaner AV equipment.
  • Utilize proper safety practices and procedures in lines with A/V equipment, and ensure all users understand safety.
  • Be on site to assist in meetings and deal with technical emergencies or issues as required this may include after hours.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Manager.


The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

  • 3 or more years’ experience in a related field.
  • Ability to test AV equipment and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of tele/video-conferencing equipment (e.g. Teams and Zoom Rooms) and webinar solutions (e.g. Zoom and Microsoft Teams).
  • Experience using post production software for video and sound editing.
  • Ability to collaborate with I.T. team and the AV vendor to maintain standards and SLA’s.
  • Proven interpersonal, customer service and relationship-building skills that create effective working relationships with people at all levels within the Firm.
  • Willingness to be accessible, adjust work schedule, and provide support outside of normal business hours (including evenings and weekends), as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Ability to balance changing priorities each day.
  • Open to learning new processes and technologies.
  • Present yourself professionally in internal and external meetings.
  • Working experience with automated/divisible boardrooms an asset.
  • Law firm and multi-office experience an asset.
