Technical Asset Management Specialist

We are looking for a Technical Asset Management Specialist to be responsible for the planning and day-to-day execution of Asset Management Program activities across all CNL sites/locations. Do you have experience in the implementation and continual improvement of asset management programs? If so, apply now This position will lead the development of improvements, policy, procedures and practices to ensure excellent stewardship of CNL managed assets.
What you will be doing
- Providing leadership and day-to-day oversight to deliver results in line with the department’s goals.
- Providing the necessary leadership and oversight for new activities and initiatives with the focus on excellence, new technology, knowledge transfer and training of staff, to ensure safe execution and are delivered on-time and remain on-budget.
- Leading initiatives to improve and mature the program.
- Leading and coordinating a team of planning staff primarily made up of Stakeholders, Asset Custodians/Owners, Subject Matter Experts and others as needed to support asset specialists.
- Develop a benchmarking strategy to inform new initiatives of the program.
- Determine gaps between program and ISO 55000 requirement to inform changes in the program.
- Develop new approaches to communicate benefits of the program and use of program outputs.
- Develop method to integrate Risk Registers from multiple Asset Groups.
- Lead standardization of asset information across the company (labelling, Asset Management applications).
- Author and update program documentation and presentations.
- Researching and providing level of service industry benchmarks and resulting key performance indicators.
- Monitoring and reporting progress, work activities and key resources on a frequent basis.
- Recommending improvements to the Asset Group Asset Management Plans.
- Reviewing other functional support area documents for alignment with the Asset Management program.
- Influencing the strategic direction of the business units by identifying gaps and leveraging opportunities to best support the missions.
- Conducting field activities, audits, and assessments.
- Working with various levels of staff throughout CNL to meet AM Program requirements.
- A degree, a diploma in a technical trade, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations is beneficial (Asset Management Certification).
- Significant related experience in a field of specialization, including demonstrated leadership experience. Minimum 3 years of planning and coordinating work in either an asset management or facility management environment.
- Experience in leading a team, demonstrated success achieving team goals, and establishing good relationships with internal stakeholder groups and individuals of many diverse professions is required.
- Thorough knowledge of CNL strategy documents and applicable standards are an asset.
- Strong knowledge of asset and/or facility management would be an asset.
- Ability to co-ordinate work and resources with other site groups such as S&T mission, ERM mission, Capital Mission.
- Strong technical background in asset management techniques to guide project teams in developing sound decisions when preparing project documentation and standards is an asset.
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to disseminate information to other team members and clients and strong team problem-solving skills are essential.
- Must have the ability to work smoothly and effectively with customers, technical staff, colleagues and management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform under stress conditions and to lead others in such conditions.
- Initiative to resolve problems and expedite resources, work plans or other appropriate actions.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Monitor program activities to ensure that work is performed to the standard of efficiency and in accordance with the SOCA and TCA agreements, technical specifications, applicable standards, and other internal and external requirements.
- A strong business approach along with a focus on details and the ability to produce accurate, quality results, technical documents, reports and condition assessment documentation in reasonable time.
- An excellent communicator, the incumbent will work well in both a team environment and independently, will have a strong attention to detail, as well as superior analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to strategically plan and prioritize work.
- Ability to read and understand civil/architectural and/or mechanical and/or electrical drawings and system flow sheets.
- Ability to operate and use industry standard facility condition and capital planning software and maintenance management software.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to be able to communicate clearly and accurately with both technical and non-technical personnel, inside and outside CNL.
- Perform highly complex/highly specialized advanced analyses of condition methodologies.
- Independent mobility including ability to climb stairs and work outside for limited periods of time.
- Ability to think strategically and to translate high-level strategic goals into understandable objectives across CNL.
- Ability to work outside normal work hours.
- A general familiarity of Canadian/Ontario Building Codes and other technical standards related to buildings and linear infrastructure, as well as good knowledge of Canada Labour Code requirements.
- A good technical understanding of buildings and utilities (Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical) along with related code requirements, average system or component life expectancies and the role of timely condition assessment inspections and related maintenance.
- Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management standards.
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location of Work - Hybrid
- This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
