Summary

Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Finance & Corporate Services, the FP&A Financial Analyst plays a key role in providing all levels of the business, including Senior Management and Executives, with the information and analysis they need to make operational, financial, and strategic decisions.

With strong business/financial acumen, data management skills, and good interpersonal skills, the FP&A Analyst will contribute to the organization as a financial steward by sourcing and translating financial and non-financial data into meaningful and useful information. They will support the organization with the provision of monthly cost analysis that actively challenges the business, the development and tracking/interpreting of KPIs, proactive identification of business opportunities for cost savings/revenue generation and assist with new projects and ad hoc analysis.

Job Duties

  1. Planning and Analysis - Responsible for championing the budgeting/forecasting/financial analysis process for departments as assigned.
  2. Data Management - Key contributor to improving/ guiding our data management framework and acting as a subject matter expert for the tools we use, e.g. Excel, MS Power Products, Tableau.
  3. Reporting - Working with stakeholders to understand their information needs. Conduct analysis to assess and extract meaningful data, working with subject matter experts to resolve any information/data gaps. Ultimately, developing reports and interaction points to serve stakeholder information needs with the aim of supporting better decision making and financial stewardship.
  4. Modeling - Provide input to benchmarking surveys, corporate projects/RFP by conducting cost benefits analysis, unit cost calculation, and ensuring business requirements are adequately addressed.
  5. Deliver monthly cost analysis as it relates to Operations, Marketing & Leasing, and Property Management departments.
  6. Develop, track & interpret KPIs to give a clear understanding of departmental performance.
  7. Provide variance analysis to departmental actual results compared to budgets.
  8. Proactively identify and recommend process improvements, cost saving opportunities.
  9. Assist with new project business case analysis and ROI calculations on post implementation.
  10. Contribute ideas and participate in development projects to enhance revenue or reduce costs.
  11. Provide ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as Commerce, Finance and/or Accounting. Completed or nearing completion of CPA designation considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience in Residential property management preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Finance.
  • Ability to perform analysis and present information with clear conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well versed knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Power Platform – e.g. Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with multiple areas of finance as well as business units of the organization.
