We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team at the corporate office in Edmonton. The Health and Safety Advisor champions our workplace safety program, serving as the go-to expert for all health and safety matters. By monitoring operations and ensuring compliance, this role identifies hazards and drives improvements, leading training initiatives to enhance safety and reduce risks.

What You’ll Do

Incident Management:

  • Oversee and complete investigations of work-related injuries, near-misses, and property damage.
  • Classify incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze data to improve safety programs and resolve issues related to Return to Work and Workplace Violence.


Audits, Compliance & Reporting:

  • Maintain and enhance health and safety management systems.
  • Recommend safety procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop policies and programs.
  • Advise on safe work practices, promote safety initiatives, and manage vehicle movement programs.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits.


On-Site Support:

  • Assist in implementing HSE system requirements, participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, conduct safety inspections, and coordinate emergency response planning.
  • Foster a positive safety culture and provide feedback for HSE meetings.


Communication, Training & Development:

  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs, including new hire orientations and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure all training aligns with legislative and internal requirements.


What You Bring

  • Minimum 3+ years in an HSE role
  • OHS diploma or certificate required
  • Internal COR Auditor Certificate required
  • CRSP designation (in progress or achieved)
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, WCB, and related legislation
  • Proficient in MS Office and specialized safety software
  • Experienced in conducting audits and assessments
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Efficient in time management, record-keeping, and task prioritization
  • Skilled in building positive relationships and handling sensitive situations
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and new technologies
  • Reliable, consistent, and trustworthy with confidential information
