The Director of Total Rewards and Technology will be a valuable member in contributing to Metro Supply Chain's future. Supporting the Vice-President of Human Resources, this individual will be accountable for several key verticals within Total Rewards, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Pension and HR Technology. The person will be responsible for supporting and managing the development, implementation, integration, analysis, and execution of the overall organization’s total rewards programs, including total compensation, health and welfare benefits programs, retirement plans, other total rewards programs. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations, including Pay Equity.



Job Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have minimum 10+ years of leadership experience in the areas of Compensation, Total Rewards and Benefits supported by certification -Certified Compensation Professional (‘CCP’), Certified Benefits Professional (‘CBP’) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (‘CEBS’) designation.
  • Must possess solid technical skills and experience utilizing HRIS and Work Force Management solutions, Ceridian Dayforce and UKG experience would be preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of business concepts, including strategy development and financial analysis.
  • Solid understanding of compensation planning methodologies, principles and salary administration practices with knowledge of market best practices.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel (with the focus on building cost models and reports), MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, prioritize and monitor a variety of work projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative and productive relationships with team members and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with accuracy. Requires excellent follow up skills encompassing a thorough mindset.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in compensation and benefits analysis and implementation.
  • You stay current within the industry and provide sound recommendations that support the company’s growth.
  • High-level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Consistently delivers quality work on time, with a strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.



Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs.
  • Oversee compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary and job grade structure development, Group RRSP/DPSP and Pension plan and base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis.
  • Research, develop, manage and evaluate various compensation and benefit programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compensation and benefits programs support Metro’s business objectives and meet all legal requirements.
  • Assist in designing and communicating compensation-related policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Provide oversight, update and lead the implementation of the organization’s annual compensation, benefits, RRSP/DPSP and Pension programs.
  • Conduct in-depth market analyses to provide insights and formulate recommendations to inform total rewards strategy and stakeholder decisions and support the annual salary budget planning process.
  • Provide support with benefits administration such as enrollments, changes etc. and manages benefit data accuracy, audits and interface requirements.
  • Manage outsourced providers and develop strong working relationships with Benefits Brokers and Vendors. Participates in benefit plan renewals and plan design discussions.
  • Establish and maintain plan documents and communication materials and prepare employee awareness campaigns on total reward programs to communicate the Employee Value Proposition.
  • Lead total rewards team and support regional HR business partners with advice, data on compensation & benefits matters.


  • Remain abreast of market trends and developments in laws or regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
