Reporting to the Sr. Product Manager, Underground Drills, the Product Specialist, Underground Drills Equipment supports the technical and commercial strategic growth actions for the underground drilling and bolting product lines. This position will support the development of a long term drilling product strategy and the functional specifications of the applicable products while working with the product design engineering teams to develop the products to functional specification and then work with the global commercial, aftermarket and marketing teams to work through commercialization of the product.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Support the development of product line strategy and implementation of existing and new products through the distribution network globally.
  2. Conduct market research, competitive intelligence efforts to ensure market-driven product direction is achieved.
  3. Work closely with design engineering to ensure functional specifications are achieved through technical design of product.
  4. Maintain & establish relationships with new and existing customers (end user and Komatsu distributor sales and service teams) to educate and promote product lines and services.
  5. Liaise with technical product support, engineering personnel and sales. Advise engineering, quality, supply chain and manufacturing departments of technical issues, potential solutions or product enhancements to mitigate negative impact and protect or grow the overall business.
  6. Gather and maintain competitive pricing models and market data for underground drilling products.
  7. Support commercial and aftermarket teams for drill rigs (jumbos, shaft equipment, etc.) through planning, training, program development as required.
  8. Work with Marketing and Drills Product Management on launching products, programs and solutions. Draft documentation as required including: Announcements, Internal/External Campaigns, Chatter/Komatsu Connect/Yammer.
Qualifications/Requirements
  1. BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical trade is required.
  2. 2+ years of experience working with drill technologies and strong hydraulic, electrical knowledge is required.
  3. Direct mining/equipment application experience with similar equipment is required.
  4. Knowledge of the drilling market in mining operations is desired.
  5. Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge and convey product information to a broad audience with varying levels of product capability.
  6. Commercial aptitude and experience with market analysis, sales upselling, sales forecasting is desired.
  7. Strong computer skills with ability to prepare data metrics, sales presentations, training materials.
  8. Strong organizational and project management skills to multi-task on a variety of projects.
  9. Valid passport and driver's license with ability to travel globally to customer sites and Komatsu Mining sales offices, dealers offices.
  10. Proficiency in English language, written and oral.
