The Silver Group is a well-established, family-owned and operated company specializing in the ownership and management of residential property rentals conveniently located in communities across Ontario. Due to continued growth, the company is expanding and hiring a Human Resources Manager; there is a key focus on Talent Acquisition in this role, to support and ultimately drive forward the projected business growth across Canada and the US.


Your new Role


As the Human Resources Manager, reporting directly into the President, and working closely with the CFO, and wider leadership team and business you will be responsible to own the HR function for the organization, with a focus on developing and implementing a successful and sustainable Talent Acquisition strategy across both Canada and the US. This role will also lead Onboarding, Compliance, HRIS maintenance, HR policies and procedures, external partnership management, and other projects as required. You will support the Executives in a strategic business partnering capacity. Your day to day responsibilities will be to: interview candidates virtually; complete hiring paperwork, (including budgeting); background and criminal record checks; process all internal paperwork for termination; ensure compliance with different state requirements; keep record and follow up for garnishment related issues; create accountability for each position; maintain employee benefits; deal with external auditors questions regarding hiring and termination; help with employee insurance external audit forms, and queries (i.e., indemnity and workers compensation claims); and more. This role has access to the support of an HR Consultant as required in the US for matters of extreme complexity, though we are seeking someone with experience spanning both Canada and the US to succeed in this role.


What you’ll need to Succeed


To succeed as the Human Resources Manager, you will bring 7-9 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, and your experience will come from the Retail and/ or Property Management industry. You will be strong in Talent Acquisition and Recruitment and be focused on being part of an established, stable, and growing business. You will be someone who understands the urgency of working in a fast paced, investment industry. You will have completed post-secondary education in the form of a BA, HRM and/ or CHRP/ CHRL, and must bring experience supporting a business from an HR perspective across both Canada and the US. You will be detail oriented, highly organized and someone who acts with maturity and confidentiality. You will be forward thinking and progressive in your approach to HR and be someone who truly values building long term partnerships with the business to be effective in your role. You will be energetic, forward thinking and excited about growing your career alongside a company that likes to think outside the box and approach every roadblock with a solution; to continually grow more efficiently, effectively and sustainably. You will; thrive in a fast-paced environment and be strong as supporting the bigger picture, while executing on the day to day. This role will initially be an individual contributor, though has the opportunity to expand and grow the HR team as the business size grows and dictates.
