Job Description

Join our vibrant and innovative client as a Payroll Specialist. Our client is seeking an analytical and diligent individual who thrives in a deadline driven environment for a permanent opportunity with their team based in Dartmouth, NS.


Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  1. Upload electronic timesheets from an ERP system to support payroll of 300 plus employees
  2. Maintain payroll records including personnel records, deductions, increases, and withholding information
  3. Process payroll deductions and payment for RRSP, TFSA, and other benefits
  4. Analyze and audit payroll transactions and ensure accuracy of processing
  5. Review collective agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance
  6. Review employee attendance records including vacation, leave, overtime, and flex time
  7. Process payroll journal entries and ensure accuracy
  8. Collaborate with accounting team performing GL account reconciliations and various other month end duties
  9. Process employee expense claims and allowances
  10. Prepare compliance reporting as necessary
  11. Other duties and projects as assigned
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  1. Post secondary education in payroll, accounting, or related field
  2. Payroll certification PCP or equivalent
  3. 3+ years payroll experience and working with collective agreements would be a definite asset
  4. Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft products
  5. Familiarity with ADP and ERP accounting systems is a definite asset
  6. The successful candidate must be capable of acquiring a security clearance
  7. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  8. Organized and highly reliable team player who takes pride in their work & team
  9. Ability to take initiative and lead projects as required
