INTRODUCTION:

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives focuses on identifying, developing and leading the implementation of high-impact projects and strategies that support ScotiaMcLeod’s long-term vision and goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod that require direct interaction with key stakeholders including key business partners across all Scotia Wealth Management business lines.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and internal assessments to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Overall responsibility for assigned projects including management of scope, budget, risk, resources, plan and internal/external communications. Securing appropriate resources and support to ensure initiatives are completed correctly, on time and on budget.
  • Support the ScotiaMcLeod leadership team in planning, implementing, and monitoring internal, cross-functional programs and procedures.
  • Proactively identify initiatives and processes that contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the business.
  • Lead frequent meetings with appropriate parties to ensure projects and initiatives are kept on track. Maintain an active list of initiatives, identify responsible stakeholders, and timelines to implement.
  • Develop and implement change management activities specifically related to projects and initiatives assigned.
  • Lead and actively engage in identifying improvement opportunities and process efficiencies to create overall effectiveness while consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS:

  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy or consulting focused on wealth management, banking or financial services industry is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with stakeholders with varying cross-cultural and language differences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams and senior executives.
  • Advanced knowledge in financial analysis.
  • Advanced leadership skills in building strategic relationships and customer focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
