Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How will you create an impact:
The Energy Analyst performs technical analysis to understand energy use patterns, building equipment and systems, and energy savings opportunities. This work leads to the implementation of energy-efficiency projects and participation in incentive and rebate programs that result in energy and cost savings for the organization. The Energy Analyst supports Facilities Management & Operations teams with project and technical leadership in the area of energy management.
The Energy Analyst acts as a technical resource within Interior Health to review existing building management systems and equipment, conduct energy billing analyses, help establish data collection processes for understanding building energy equipment and automation systems, benchmark performance, and report on energy performance and greenhouse gas emissions.
With direction from the Senior Energy Manager, the Energy Analyst reports greenhouse gas emissions to the Carbon Neutral Government through the Clean Government Reporting Tool (CGRT), to ensure that Interior Health remains carbon neutral as legislated under the Climate Change Accountability Act. This includes managing reporting processes, documentation, and databases/data conversion tools.
In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to your manager or supervisor immediately.
What will you work on:
• Creates quarterly reports through data analysis to inform project identification and selection processes, and supports projects that result in natural gas, propane, and electricity savings.
• Determines applicable utility incentive and rebate and programs that may benefit the organization; these programs help IH achieve energy and GHG emissions reduction targets.
• Develops measurement and verification (M&V) plans and subsequently manages the M&V of mechanical, electrical, and controls projects, to verify results.
• Structures, organizes, analyzes, and reports on data including but not limited to meter data, utility billing data and consumption information, building management systems, and public databases.
• Develops, establishes, and manages ongoing processes for permanent data collection, data manipulation, visual analytics, and reporting of energy metrics.
• Uploads and verifies monthly utility data in the Asset Planner database for portfolio of facilities.
• Supports IH Energy Management with program coordination, procurement, and project tracking.
• Manages and/or collaborates with consultants, contractors, and other business partners to perform energy reviews and/or evaluate existing energy reporting processes/documentation.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, business, computer science, math, or data analytics.
• Qualified candidates must also possess one of the following:
-Certified Energy Manager (CEM) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
-Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), from the AEE
-Sustainable Energy Management Advanced Certificate (SEMAC) through BCIT
-Master’s degree in clean energy, sustainability, or planning
• 3-5 years related work experience.
Skills and Abilities
• Experience successfully working in a team environment.
• An interest in energy efficiency demonstrated through qualifications, work experience, or volunteering.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate, and gain consensus with others.
• Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills (experience with delivering reports and presenting numerical, financial, and statistical information).
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic programming or equivalents.
• Experience with Energy Star Portfolio Manager, RETScreen, or other energy analysis software.
• Understanding of building controls, HVAC systems including controls, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with building science or green buildings is considered an asset.
• Class 5 BC Driver’s license and the ability to travel.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
